About the Position:
You will serve as a Purchasing Agent supporting the Champaign Branch of the Engineer Research and Development Center Contracting Office, Champaign, IL. Procurement of both commercial and non-commercial supplies, services, research and development, and information technology hardware and software in support of your customers.
Duties
Purchasing Agent for cradle-to-grave simplified acquisitions in support of the U.S. Army Engineer and Research Development Center mission.
Responsible for the procurement of both commercial and non-commercial supplies, services, research and development, and information technology hardware and software in support of your customers.
Approximately 25% of your time will be spent on the following administrative duties:
Government Purchase Card and Check holder for the branch.
Property delegate for the branch.
Timekeeper for the branch.
Requirements
- Appointment requires Moderate Risk background investigation ( suitability or fitness determination).
- This is a Defense Acquisition Workforce (AWF) position. The employee must meet the DoDI 5000.66 requirements applicable to the Career Category/Functional Area and the Career Level Certification.
- Approximately 10% travel to other duty locations.

This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DK-03 (GS-06/07). In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, Laboratory Demonstration Project employees must have a current average performance score of at least 2.5 or equivalent (fully successful rating) for promotion consideration.
To qualify at the DK-03 grade level or equivalency, your resume must describe experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience defined as one year of specialized experience equivalent to the DK-2 (GS-5) with procurement of supplies, services, and/or information technology hardware and software; contacting customers to obtain information, advising on status of actions, or discussing and confirming changes to delivery dates, quantities, and specifications; determining fair and reasonable prices; maintaining fully compliant contract files; and experience in the use of automated systems, such as financial management systems, procurement writing systems, and/or virtual file systems.
