You will serve as a Secretary (Office Automation) in the Radiological Control Department, Code 105 of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF).

Duties

You will serve as the principal office assistant, performing administrative and clerical duties in support of the work to the senior members of the radiological department. You will maintain a continuity of operational policy, procedures and information. You will control and maintain the calendar of the Executive Director of Radiological Control, a member of the Senior Executive Service, and the Director of Radiological Control. You will establish priorities, schedules, reschedules, or refuse appointments without prior approval and must accept or decline invitations to meetings using initiative and discretion. You will arrange for meetings and appointments that may involve a wide range of agency activities, other agencies, or a large segment of the public or business community beyond the supervisor’s immediate organization. You will develop forms when studies are conducted or directives from higher authority indicate a need as well as for compile and issue various weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports. You will screen all of the mail including e-mail addressed to the Executive Director of Radiological Control and the Director of Radiological Control and rerouting those items which can be handled by Divisions within the Department.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For the GS-08: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing secretarial office functions to include coordinating the work of an office by establishing priorities and schedules, making travel and conference arrangements, proofreading and editing correspondence or memoranda, and maintaining and controlling an electronic calendar to ensure workflow efficiency. For the GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:Providing secretarial support in an office setting to include using office automation and software systems to make travel arrangements, preparing reports, formatting and proofreadingcorrespondence, scheduling appointments, and identifying and resolving administrative matters. For the GS-08: In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education that is directly related to the position being filled.

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
