About the Position: This position is with the Civilian Human Resources Agency located at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. This is an upward mobility position and may be filled at the GS-05, GS-06, or GS-07 grade level, with promotion potential to the target grade.

Duties

Provide recruitment and placement support with employee records, program operations, and HR services. Utilize office automation equipment and software programs to perform office assistant duties. Assist in registration of employees in the Priority Placement Program (PPP) and local placement programs. Conduct recruitment and examining activities for lower-graded positions. Assist in recruitment by arranging for physical examinations, coordinating release dates, and processing pre-appointment security checks. Communicate orally and/or in writing to respond to inquiries, retrieve requested information, and resolve problems. If selected at the GS-05 or GS-06 grade level, the duties listed above will be performed in a trainee capacity.

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes:1) providing administrative support in an office setting; 2) maintaining and reviewing employee records; 3) applying specific rules or procedures to assist with personnel actions; and 4) utilizing office automation to perform administrative tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) handling pre-employment processing to include maintaining personnel files; 2) reviewing new hire or employee documents for completeness and obtaining additional information as required; 3) utilizing personnel automated systems and databases; and 4) reviewing rules and procedures to perform HR support work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
