About the Position: This is a Knowledge Management Specialist, GS-0301-11, position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division (SWD), Galveston District, Engineering & Construction Division and will be located in Galveston, TX.
Duties
Responsible for the implementation of the District’s Knowledge Management Program which includes planning the processes and procedures for an effective and viable program.
Provides coordination and oversight for all knowledge management functions.
Recommends actions to senior staff to improve overall use of Knowledge Management and acts as a proponent for the sharing and distribution of knowledge.
Identifies records that are vital to the continuity of operations in case of disaster and ensures procedures and processes are in place to ensure the accessibility of these records during emergency operations.
Trains new employees and provides refresher training in knowledge management requirements.
Provides record management instruction and plans and performs organizational inspections for district offices.
Ensures records containing personal data are restricted and safeguarded from potential loss or compromise of Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
Advises records management coordinators on preparation of material for disposal or transfer and the preparation of reports.
Ensures compliance with appropriate record keeping regulatory guidance for the life-cycle management of records.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
- This position may require some temporary travel (TDY) – approximately 10%.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level in the Federal Service or equivalent, which includes 1) Assist with restricting personal data records; 2) Aid in knowledge management functions for organization; and 3) Implement developed initiatives to evaluate productivity.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
