Duties

You will manage and mentor junior analysts assigned to the teams. You will work on a variety of analysis areas, to include data analysis, optimization, modeling and simulation. You will be expected to participate in the organization's need for knowledge and to identify available alternatives. You will be expected to be aware of non-technical issues that may bear on decisions. You will present results of research to subject matter experts as well as key decision makers. You will maintain expertise in various areas of operations research such as attending conferences and short courses and presenting the results of research at analytical forums.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret/SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

GS-13 In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: technical proficiency in operations research techniques including data analysis/statistics, mathematical optimization, and simulation; responsibility for defining the problem, formulating the approach, and evaluating the findings; AND conducting technical reviews of proposed research. GS-14 In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: leading analytical teams structured to perform advanced operations research analysis including directing the work of the team, defining the problem, formulating the overall approach, conducting the analysis, and evaluating the findings; creating well-written reports and executive briefings suitable for presentation to General Officers and Senior Executive Service leaders; AND demonstrating knowledge of the Marine Corps appropriate for a senior analyst. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess.

A bachelor's or higher degree in operations research.

OR

Successfully completed a bachelor's or higher degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics and at least 3 of the 24 semester hours are in calculus.
