Duties
Support the full life cycle of DHA software intensive applications from requirements decomposition through sustainment and subsequent decommissioning as required.
Apply knowledge of state-of-the-art software development practices/principles for the development of advances in the creation of new or substantially improved end items.
Conduct studies and analyses to determine the feasibility of various advanced engineering approaches.
Guide and evaluate the design and development activities of contractors and others in achieving new products.
Guide and evaluate the design and development activities of microservice-based software architectures and concepts in support of a large and complex centrally hosted, web-based, multi-tiered application.
Update documentation (software release documentation, user documentation, test documentation, etc.), update issue tracking tools.
Develop software build scripts, installation instructions. Determine risk as needed. Implement Information Assurance/Cyber corrective actions as directed.
Monitor corrective actions/software resolutions for satisfactory implementation.
Direct/assist in the implementation of DEVSECOPS procedures/processes.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Engineering and Technical Management certification within 60 months as of entrance on duty.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of occasional travel less than 25 % of the time.
- Position may be subject to an extended three year probationary period for the Engineers and Scientists Occupational Family unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This is a 6-year Renewable Term position scheduled to last 6 years IAW Federal Register Vol. 82, No. 178. This position may be extended, without limit, in up to six-year increments.
- Term employment is subject to an extended three-year trial period for the Engineer and Scientist Occupational Family. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
Qualifications
This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority (DHA) Bachelors Degrees for Scientific and Engineering Positions (STRLs) authorized by 85 FR 78829 dtd 12/07/2020.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade or band is required. It is defined as one year of specialized experience equivalent to the DB-02 pay band (GS-11 grade level) in the Federal Service which includes experience in one or more of the following areas:
Experience with agile software development methods.
Experience with Software modeling/simulation and associated languages/use cases.
Experience with implementing/sustaining microservices and web development.
Experience with DEVSECOPS/software factory components, tools, cloud environment, and multiple DB engines.
Experience with various communication methods to deliver organizational information.
Transcripts are required to meet the Basic Education for the applicable series.
Basic Requirement for Computer Scientist (1550 series):
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in computer science or bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
