This position is part of the Defense Media Activity. The incumbent will be responsible for directing, managing and overseeing the day-to-day coordination of video and print projects. Arranges coverage of USMC operations, exercises, units, and personnel for distribution to worldwide audiences via web, DIVIDS, Social Media, and other appropriate platforms. Directs the convergence of news and information products to link print, photo, graphic, biographies, fact sheets, radio, and video.

Duties

As a AUDIOVISUAL PRODUCTION SPECIALIST at the GS-1071-13 some of your typical work assignments may include: Provides direction and oversight on Marines production matters. Responsible for day-to-day planning and execution of live to tape, field/remote, and studio produced television and audio-visual products, as assigned, created at DMA. Directs and manages daily Marine Corps centric audio, visual, and web products for insertion on DMA, USMC, and DoD media platforms. Manage operations and allocation and execution of funding IAW DMA and DoD policy. Assigns other Executive Producers and team members, sets production priorities, develops crew schedules and manages the production planning calendar. Prepares internal media briefs, broadcast scripts, serves as EP, and delivers finished product to Director Marine Corps Production and HQMC. Develops, establishes and communicates performance standards; provides team members with the tools, training and authority they need to be successful in their jobs and holds them accountable for their performance. Understands, develops, and maintains working relationships with HQMC units, Marine Expeditionary Units, and field units to deliver USMC-wide communication strategy to audience.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service: Arranges coverage of operations, exercises, units, and personnel for distribution to worldwide audiences via web, Social Media, and other appropriate platforms; Directs the convergence of news and information products to link print, photo, graphic, biographies, fact sheets, radio, and video; Arranges print and photo news coverage of timely, topical, and relevant news events that highlight the professionalism, official policies, and leadership programs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 1071 series. Education Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. or Experience Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes work directly connected with the production aspects of the field(s) of the position to be filled. *NOTE: Failure to provide transcripts will result in you being rated ineligible for this position.

If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
