You will serve as a Supervisory Program Manager, also known as a Division Chief, in the Office of Defects Investigation. The office is responsible for identifying, investigating, and monitoring recalls of safety-related defects in motor vehicles and motor vehicle equipment. Primary duties include coordinating Office of Enforcement initiatives for advanced and emerging technology including ADS, ADAS, vehicle electrification, software including AI and new components.

Qualifications
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade.For the GS-15: You must have at least one year of specialized experience, equal or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which included:
Experience in supervision, as a Team Lead, or leadership roles that focus on employee engagement, development, feedback, and performance coaching.
Experience in carrying out or managing technical analysis relating to vehicle safety compliance, defect investigations, and risk-based complaint assessments.
Directly supervise a staff with a wide variety of backgrounds that conduct both pre-investigative and investigative processes to address safety related defects or non-compliance in motor vehicles and equipment while promoting employee growth through feedback, training, and/or coaching.
Strong communication skills with employees, peers, leadership, and stakeholders, ability to write concisely, express thoughts clearly, and present concisely to leadership.
Exchanging ideas and information and discuss possible new solutions to difficult problems with engineers, investigators, automotive experts, and leadership to further the growth of ODI processes, work product, and staff.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge or aptitude in directing and managing human resources for a division, team or group that maximizes employee potential and accomplishes the agency’s mission.
Knowledge in investigation, technical analysis, and ability to solve complex problems through analysis, collaboration, and leadership.
Ability to effectively communicate with staff, peers, leadership, and stakeholders, including executive level presentations.
Knowledge or aptitude to manage the execution of risk and data-based programs and investigations for safety defect or non-compliance analysis while actively preparing NHTSA to meet future technical needs in the areas of advanced or emerging technology.
