About the Position: Responsible for performing a wide variety of visual information projects in support of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center, Mission Public Affiars Office.

Duties

Prepare visual publications/presentations to enhance the organization's communications. Apply computer graphics to maximize quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness of visual end product. Design visual information projects, to create and maintain Institute’s website. Present artistic presentation of complex theories, as well as conceptualizations of material and equipment in the development stage. Review projects with the supervisor to determine the purpose and end product to targeted audience. Advise on technical advantages and disadvantages of various formats, styles, media, methods of reproduction, and types of presentations. Achieve visual information material from rough sketches, ideas, and concepts with constraints imposed by time, cost, and labor limitations.

Transforming visual information using multi-media and digital equipment to complete visual information projects such as; graphics, illustrations, photographs, and other communications media.2.) Collaborating with internal customers to provide artistic presentation of complex theories utilzing a variety of hardware and software. 3.) Selecting and adapting techniques and ideas for use in eliminating production problems which might arise. 4.) Planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other artwork, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays and other kids of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
