About the Position: This position develops, plans and implements in-service training for police officers, security guards and security personnel and secondarily functions as a Law Enforcement Officer to maintain order and protect life and property. This is a Bargaining Unit position AR3135.

Duties

Research, develop and administer in-service training for police officers and security personnel. Prepare lesson plans and instructional materials. Maintain video library, law enforcement source library, training records, and training computer files. Develop annual budget and prepare training related budget requests to include justifications and cost data. Implement and maintain all administrative training files. Reviews annual training guidance and ensures compliance with guidelines for all assigned to Emergency Services Division.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Meet and maintain requirements of Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW AR 190-56.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical agility test and meet all physical agility testing requirements IAW AR 190-56.
  • Must be certified to use police weapons, equipment, cameras, crime scene evidence collecting equipment, and automated police information retrieval systems.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Must meet all requirements IAW AR 190-56.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
  • Position is subject to random urinalysis testing IAW Department of the Army guidelines and under AR 190-56.
  • Position requires incumbent to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated personal protective equipment.
  • Position requires incumbent to pass periodic medical examination (physical, emotional and mental stability, etc. IAW AR 190-56
  • Position requires incumbent to successfully graduate from DA Police Academy.
  • Position requires incumbent be qualified and certified in the use of chemical aerosol irritants, tear gas, and radar gun.
  • Position may require State certification for radar and breathalyzer operations.
  • Position requires incumbent to maintain requirements of Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW AR 190-56.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • Position requires removal of federal law enforcement officers convicted of a felony on or after January 20, 2001.
  • Position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to McAlester Army Ammunition Plant Computer System.
