You will serve as an EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the INSTALLATION EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT of NAS OCEANA.

Duties

Administer Emergency Management Services (EMS) policies for organizational readiness. Develop and implement an emergency management plan to include natural and man-made disasters. Represent an organization at emergency management conferences. Act as liaison between personnel regarding emergency procedures or emergency management policy. Initiate action to redirect efforts, resolve deficiencies, and implement lessons learned with an emergency dispatch program. Compose technical papers and briefings to provide the status of emergency program initiatives to senior leaders.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Creating recommendations for development, adoption, and implementation of an effective emergency management program; 2) Conducting emergency management program assessments to identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions; 3) Applying concepts, principles, and practices of emergency management to difficult and complex situations to ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations; 4) Developing Emergency Management Plans to support emergency response during man-made and natural disasters.
