Duties

This position requires military membership in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard (PRANG) Selected applicant(s) will be required to complete an online Onboarding process.

Requirements

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. Possess or be able to acquire a SECRET security clearance.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Qualifications

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This position requires military membership in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard (PRANG). If you are not a military member of the PRANG (i.e., member of the PR Army NG, civilian, active-duty Airman, prior service, Airman member from another state, reservist, IRR, State Guard, etc.), you must contact the ANG Recruiting and Retention Superintendent (RRS) Office at (787) 787-289-1400 extension 1713 or (787) 529-2094 and request the PRANG Military Basic Requirements (MBR) Certification. If the MBR Certification is not submitted, or you do not meet the requirements to be a member of the PRANG, your application will not be screened. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: HRO MUST process and clear the Department of Defense (DoD), Priority Placement Program (PPP), prior to advertising all internal and external job vacancies and promotion announcements. Area 1 = All permanent Technician Enlisted members employee (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Air National Guard. DUTIES: As a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (D1961000), WG-5703-8, you will perform a variety of duties relating to materiel distribution activities, including organic ground transportation for cargo and personnel. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Performs work on hard surfaces in work areas that require the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries items that weigh up to 70 pounds. May exert moderate to heavy physical effort in climbing on tractors to hook up service lines, lower landing gears, and in climbing on the trailer to load or tie down cargo. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Incumbent is required to work inside and outside and is exposed to all types of weather and traffic conditions. The incumbent is exposed to the possibility of serious injury from traffic accidents or while handling heavy equipment and supplies. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess more than TWELVE (12) months of specialized experience performing or supervising duties such as receiving, in-checking, routing, and moving parts, assemblies, components, and on-base turn-ins into and out of industrial shops; examining items received; making positive item identification by reference to national stock number (NSN); identifying, inspecting, and segregating equipment or material as it is received; initiating transportation and supply discrepancy reports; determining appropriate handling methods and devices needed to move items; preparing and processing all necessary paperwork and dispatches materials through shops; ensuring accountability, completes log books, maintenance records, reports and other transportation documents; interpreting packing manuals and specifications and determines containers, protective devices, cushioning materials, methods, and techniques needed; determining requirements for special internal support systems; constructing containers for use in shipment of items, selecting the proper type and grade of wood, Masonite, plastic or other materials needed; determining proper identification, marking, labeling, and inclusion of shipping documents and special handling instructions on all shipments.
