The Laundry Worker position is located in the Office of Textile Care Facility and functions under the supervision of the Laundry Plant Business Manager, Chief and Assistant Chief.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Employee will be exposed to repetitive motion of arms, wrist, and hands and is required to perform simple grasping and fine hand manipulation, reaching outward and above the shoulder, lift soiled linen bags up and onto soiled linen carts and frequent stooping, bending, twisting and kneeling, standing, walking, sitting. Employee must be able to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds. Must be able to stand and walk consistently, perform light to moderate bending and stooping, and able to wear PPE for extended period of time as dictated by the work setting. Employee will be involved with the loading, unloading, and transporting clean and soiled linen carts weighing up to 700 pounds. Employee is exposed to disagreeable odors and possibly infectious organisms from soiled linens, patient clothing, and employee uniforms. Is exposed to noise and hot and humid conditions. Employee is exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises from carts and machinery and minor burns from the presence of steam pipes and the flatwork-ironer. Incumbent is exposed to needle sticks and sharps. Incumbent may be subjected to inclement weather while performing the duties of the position.
