Duties
Serves as Work Leader by identifying, distributing, and balancing workload and tasks to team members in accordance with established workflow, and assures timely accomplishment of the assigned workload.
Incumbent processes court-ordered garnishment, commercial debt, and bankruptcy actions; process Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax levies.
Identifies and acts on computer system/program problems involving the DJMS-AC and DJMS-RC garnishment, bankruptcy, and tax levy (GBT) system.
Provides updates to the supervisor on work progress and identifies training needs of the team.
Reports to supervisor on employee performance, progress, and behavior problems, and resolves simple, informal complaints of employees and refers other to supervisor.
Answers all types of technical and complex correspondence and inquiries concerning active/reserve military pay that is being garnished by state courts and federal tax levies or disbursed for reasons concerning a bankruptcy.

- Time after Competitive Appointment: Candidates must have served 3 months after latest competitive appointment in the Federal service.

Qualifications
GS-08: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as providing technical advice and guidance on active/reserve military pay to ensure the accuracy of entitlements and deductions. This experience must demonstrate researching, determining, and managing a full range of actions according to regulation, policies, legal opinions, other guidelines, and identifying and fixing computer system problems.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. To be considered for the GS-8, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-7 or higher in the Federal service.
Education
GS-08: Substitution of Education for Experience: Eighteen months of graduate level education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
