The Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) Generalist is assigned to the Department of Veteran Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA). This position serves as an advanced technician for outpatient care settings such as; primary care, mental health, and specialty clinics. As an ICT Generalist the incumbent may serve in a community-based outpatient clinic (CBOC), Out-patient Clinic (OPC), or may have virtual/remote assignments.
Duties
Major Duties Include (but not limited to):
Completes approved documentation templates and tools, such as normal result notes, outpatient preventative health note, and follow-up treatment protocols established by the agency.
Performs Team communication through daily huddles and performs daily schedule scrubbing, reviewing PACT team metrics and identifying high-risk patients.
Provides patient education within the scope of care or while providing an intervention. (Examples: post-procedural care and wound care).
Uses appropriate clinical skills to respond to secure messaging, alerts, and performs virtual video visits. Makes phone calls to veterans within the scope of practice.
Performs Vital Signs and Point of Care Testing.
Performs observation-based screening and collection of patient information in collaboration with licensed personnel.
Work Schedule: Full time hours with 8 hour shifts from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm, including weekends.

Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR): IOR must be satisfied to be further considered for the position.
Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
GS-07 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Performs observation-based screening and collection of patient information in collaboration with licensed personnel.
Assists licensed staff with preparing patients for medical evaluation, setting up equipment, passing instruments and providing treatment during in-person or virtual visits.
Assists in behavioral/psychiatric situations in an outpatient setting.
Performs 12-lead electrocardiograms, bladder scans, ear irrigations and other diagnostic testing or procedures as ordered by provider.
Thoroughly and appropriately documents actions, interventions and procedures in the medical record. (Examples: Procedural notes, progress notes, screenings, photo-documentation and secure messaging.)
OR;
Education: One full year of related graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7.
OR;
Combination of Education and Experience: To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-07. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e. 50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education.
