You will serve as a Environmental Protection Specialist in the Research and Development Services, Code 353600 of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY.

Duties

You will apply Federal, State and local laws regulations, documentation and reporting requirements, and lawmaking or rulemaking processes to make decisions or recommendations that significantly change, interpret or expand NRL policies ad programs. You will establish experience in applying statues, regulation, licensing/permitting requirements and precedent decisions governing environmental operations to plan, implement and monitor environmental programs and services. You will demonstrate planning and coordinating work efforts and resolving operating problems by influencing or motivating individuals or groups working toward mutual goals. You will exhibit experience independently planning and carrying out important environmental protection programs or projects. You will perform conventional duties in support of environmental programs established to ensure base compliance for air, water, remediation, pollution prevention, hazardous materials, and hazardous waste regulations.

  • This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NO-02 (GS 05-10) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all the following: 1)Experience applying Federal, State and Local laws and regulation, documentation and reporting requirements, and lawmaking or rulemaking processes to make decision or recommendation that significantly change, interpret or expand NRL policies and programs. 2) Experience applying statues, regulation, licensing/permitting requirements and precedent decisions governing environmental operation to plan, implement and monitor environmental programs and services. 3) Experience planning and coordinating work efforts and resolving operating problems by influencing or motivating individuals or groups working toward mutual goals. 4) Experience independently planning and carrying out important environmental protection programs or projects.
