The National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) leads the nation's effort to protect the United States from terrorism by integrating, analyzing and sharing information to drive whole-of-government action and achieve our national CT objectives.

Duties

The National Counterterrorism Center's Directorate of Intelligence (NCTC/DI) seeks a motivated intelligence analyst to join a high-performing team of officers focused on counterterrorism data analytics. Qualified candidates can anticipate challenging and rewarding responsibilities involving rigorous research, pursuit of information, and collaboration to develop unique and insightful analysis that help policymakers make informed national security and foreign policy decisions. In these duties, you will have the opportunity to: Devise accurate, timely, and sophisticated data analysis in support of the most complex key ODNI, United States national security and foreign policy objectives and to shape Intelligence Community analysis priorities. Conceive complex statistical, mathematical, geospatial modeling, and data mining analysis independently or in partnership with other Data Scientist or Analyst colleagues. Convey analytic findings from data science or analytic methodologies in written format for a range of operators and policy customers. Translate complex, technical findings into an easily understood narrative, including through the appropriate and creative use of visualizations and within technical documentation. Design, create, and modify approaches using data driven methodologies to help answer intelligence questions and use data in analysis. Challenge assumptions, actively participate in peer review, collaborate with teammates on projects, and explore innovative approaches to perform data-driven counterterrorism analysis.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen residing in the United States
  • Appointment is subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on an SBI with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI)
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • A two-year trial period is required for all new permanent appointments to the ODNI.

Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements: Required Skills: Working knowledge of Python and/or Tableau or similar applications with a willingness to learn. Ability to perform data analysis effectively communicate complex, multi-disciplinary data-driven ideas and insights. Ability to apply intellectual curiosity; apply creativity and innovation to go beyond current tools to deliver the best solution to complex problems. Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team or collaborative environment Willingness to multitask and change focus quickly as demands change. Education: Bachelor's degree or commensurate training and/or experience in a quantitative or technical field of study (e.g. statistics, mathematics, computer science, physical science, economics.) Ability to leverage multiple data management tools to organize relevant information and make decisions Desired Requirements: Thorough knowledge of individual, organizational, and technical or transnational issues of national security concerns, especially terrorism. Experience producing full range of all-source intelligence analysis and familiarity with a wide range of IC data sets. Experience in applying advanced qualitative and quantitative analytic methodologies to the terrorism problems set.
