This position serves as Supply Technician for the Bath VA Health Care System. As a Supply Technician, you will provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets and equipment.
Duties
The Supply Technician duties are as follows:
Provide wards, clinics, service lines and other hospital facilities with non-expandable equipment and material.
Maintain record of non-expandable inventory locations for medical and non-medical services.
Periodically, review assigned manufacturers code and part numbers for continued validity and take necessary action to update, delete, or dispose of in accordance with published guidelines.
Distribute items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized inventory management system.
Communicate with lead or supervisor on any concerns related to Electronic Inventory Listing (EIL) inventories, equipment and lifecycle management. Provide information to customers or external stakeholders regarding equipment and related materials.
Escalate complex or unresolvable issues to the supervisor or more senior staff.
Work with customers to resolve equipment management issues including receiving requests, clarifying user requirements, explaining delays, expediting deliveries and resolving problems.
Ensure data integrity of the automated system of record.
Utilize computerized systems including bar-coding and automated inventory systems for the delivery and inventory control of equipment.
Utilize an automated inventory system to monitor issues and receipts in support of lifecycle management processes.
Ensure data accuracy in the automated system of record.
Perform non-expandable equipment bar coding on a predetermined schedule.
Deliver equipment and materials timely, in an accurate manner and ensure equipment is delivered in an operational condition.
Ensure non-expandable equipment is appropriately monitored and controlled. 18. Identify gaps and/or discrepancies and provide information on new or changed items and equipment.
Perform research of old manufacturers code and part numbers, covering requisitioned material in support of jobs which have not occurred.
Clean assigned areas in accordance with aseptic principles as published in infection control guidelines, local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Joint Commission standards as scheduled.
Recommend new bar code labels be affixed to the location of stored equipment when aged labels are discovered during routine duties.
Interpret policies, procedures, manual and regulations pertaining to lifecycle management and federal acquisition systems.
Coordinate receiving problems such as substitutions, incorrect quantities, with the appropriate inventory manager.
Monitor that Bio-Med has completed service of non-expandable equipment before coordination of delivery.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/23/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Specialized experience includes: providing supplies and material to clinical and administrative areas of a complex health care facility; scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing and distributing medical and surgical supplies, instruments and other material; pulling stock, replenishing stock and maintaining records on stock levels; monitoring expiration dates; cleaning assigned areas in accordance with aseptic principles; utilizing an automated system to maintain inventory; and answers customer questions regarding supplies and materials. Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. Note: Transcripts required. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond Possess an equivalent combination of specialized experience and post high school education as described above that demonstrates my ability to perform the duties of this position. Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). Work requires pushing loaded carts of medical supplies (weighing in excess of 100+ pounds). With proper assistance, may move heavier items that weigh over 40 pounds.
