This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Director of Operational Logistics, Base Portsmouth, Portsmouth, VA.

Duties

This position serves as the Maintenance Mechanic and is responsible for performing work in the following trades, working knowledge of the standard methods and techniques of various maintenance trades such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, masonry, welding, electrical, HVAC and sheet metal work. Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position may require a one-year probationary period.

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
