This position is located at Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Aviation Logistics Center (ALC), Industrial Operations Division (IOD), Engine Test and Repair Facility, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Duties

The position's primary purpose is to perform complex aircraft engine test and evaluations along with performing typical journey-level Aircraft Engine Overhaul Mechanic duties and senior journey-level troubleshooting duties on a regular and recurring basis. The incumbent is further responsible for performing preventative maintenance, adjustments and calibrations on Aircraft Engine Test Cells and Consoles. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments for the WG-11 include: 

Requirements

  • You must have U.S. Citizenship.
  • Subject to overtime or recall.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • The applicant is subject to pre-appointment and random drug testing.
  • Occasional Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) is required.
  • Rotating shift work may be required.
  • May be required to fly on Coast Guard aircraft.

Qualifications

Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:  Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision  Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.  Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic  Use of Measuring Instruments  Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (Includes blueprint reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Trouble-shooting National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This position does not have a positive education requirement. If you are including education on your resume, report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
