You will serve as an ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIAL CONTROLS MECHANIC in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will evaluate the impact that electronically controlled industrial equipment repairs and adjustments will have on related integral devices.
You will determine the effects that alterations will have on a total system to verify added equipment will function correctly.
You will analyze diagnostic test readings and operating conditions of electronically controlled industrial equipment to isolate system malfunctions.
You will use all types of test equipment to measure input and output voltages, amperage, cycles, check continuity and impose various electrical loads.
You will be required to utilize computers, laptops, and testing equipment to troubleshoot problems prior to responding to field location where repairs will occur.
You will be responsible for performing a combination of construction, maintenance, repair, manufacture, modification, utilities operation, or equipment operation involving diverse skills..

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You must be able to wear a respirator.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification.
- You will be required to complete CONFINED SPACE training.
Qualifications
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: Must possess a Universal Certification received from an EPA approved certifying program. You must submit a copy of your certification to be considered.

Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including:
1) Performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of commercial and industrial air conditioning and refrigeration systems that provide a variety of functions such as heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, circulating and filtering air;
2) Examining, diagnosing malfunctions and making repairs to systems that include analog and/or direct digital control (DDC) systems used in complex heating ventilation; air conditioning, and refrigeration systems; and
3) Utilizing refrigerant tables calculating airflow and pressure-temperature characteristics for the different systems to locate problems . I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
