About the Position: This position is located at the Tank-Automotive and Armament Command (TACOM) Field Support Operations, Fleet Management Expansion, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, bordering Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2-hour drive east and Springfield is a 1-hour drive west of Fort Leonard Wood.

Duties

Take oil samples in accordance with Army Oil Analysis Program procedures. Operate a variety of equipment and vehicles. Complete preventive maintenance and work order services. Obtain tools and pads as directed. Clean and lubricate pads and components. Utilize Automated Supply/Maintenance Management Systems such as; Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army).

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • An appropriate, valid driver's license is required and must be maintained for the position.
  • Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical examination to meet the physical efforts requirements of this position. An annual physical or medical surveillance examination may be required.

Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Mobile Equipment Servicer~ without more than normal supervision. I can: 1) take oil samples in accordance with Army Oil Analysis Program procedures; 2) complete preventive maintenance and work order services such as: checking fluid levels, replacing fluids, cleaning battery boxes, flushing radiators, lubricating fittings, oil and can points, etc.; 3) operate Government vehicles to bring indoors for repairs, service and initial or final road test; and 4) remove, clean or replace spark plugs, hydraulic fluids, filters, tail pipes, batteries, air cleaners and light bulbs. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Trouble ShootingUse of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort: Works in awkward positions on top of equipment at height up to 18 feet above ground and underneath vehicles by use of a creeper. Frequently required to bend, climb or reach in cramped and tight spaces. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds such as cans, drums, and petroleum products. Occasionally lifts heavier items with the assistance of other workers or lifting equipment. Working Conditions: Work is performed either inside or outside. When working inside there is frequent exposure to drafts, dirt, fumes, dust, loud noises, oil and grease. Often subject to cuts, bruises, and burns. Occasionally exposed to changing temperatures, inclement weather, and cold or damp conditions when working outside
