About the Position: This position is located at Fort Jackson, Richland, South Carolina.
Duties
Serve as an engineering technician with emphasis on electrical and mechanical aspects of engineering.
Develop requirements and review plans and specifications for maintenance of the systems to include inspecting, servicing, and testing.
Assure facility systems are maintained for the varied and uniquely designed facilities for which precedents are not directly applicable.
Confer with health care authorities to obtain background for proposed studies and determine needs for equipment and required reliability rates.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Valid state driver license is required.
- The incumbent will have to complete Life Safety Code 101 certification within one (1)year.
- This is an inclement weather essential position.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with engineering design preparation, determining cost estimates for engineering projects, and utilizing fire and life safety codes for facility compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
