The incumbent serves as a Program Support Assistant (PSA) in Radiology/Nuclear Medicine Service. The incumbent will interface with numerous computer applications including but not limited to CPRS, VISTA, My HealtheVet, Vet Link, VSE, etc.
Duties
Assists with coordinating budget processes, assists with maintaining control points (with COR certification), ensures prompt payment of contractual obligations and certifies payment of obligations.
Assists with projecting budgetary needs along with justification.
Requests quotes from vendors for the procurement of equipment to be used in projecting operating budgets. Submit quotes and justification to VISN acquisition for new equipment as well as replacement equipment.
Serves as a purchase card holder for the Imaging department.
Formats policy and procedure documents after review and edits by Imaging staff.
Facilitates Imaging Service staff, safety and regulatory meetings and prepares minutes timely.
Serves as the liaison between the service and Human Resources Management Service.
Will be the service ADPAC and coordinator of clerical staff.
Maintains files containing licensing and certification documentation for radiologists and technologists.
Maintains the Service Chiefs calendar, and schedules meetings as needed.
Data reports run from the VISTA Radiology Package are used to manage radiology scheduling lists.
Coordinate patient procedures by verifying pre-procedure workup is complete and meets procedure requirements prior to procedure.
Monitors and addresses issues with the Imaging Services access, staffing, training, and compliance, auditing/reporting, and quality assurance.
Assists in coordinating credentialing and privileging activities involving the Imaging Service and the State of University of New York at Stony Brook contracted providers to ensure all physicians have current, complete and accurate credentialing documentation without lapse of privileges.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/24/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, VISTA and CPRS and have excellent communication and customer service skills. Must have a thorough knowledge of oral communication methods and techniques. Must have skills in establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative work relationships. Broad, working knowledge of VHA and medical center rules and regulations, policy, and mission. MR safety standards, Nuclear Medicine Procedures. Knowledge of an extensive body of rules, procedures, and operations to perform a wide variety of interrelated or nonstandard procedural assignments and resolve a wide range of problems such as assisting radiology team with patient safety alerts, unexpected audits, and short turn around projects by collecting data preparing spreadsheets as assigned by the Imaging HSS. Must have knowledge of imaging procedures as they relate to the clerical, administration, and service functions and the various referencing manuals and handbooks commonly used by staff. Must have knowledge of Release of Information rules and regulations.

Physical Requirements: The work is mainly sedentary and requires sitting, walking, standing, bending, andcarrying light items such as books, files, and office supplies.
