This COMMUNITY RELATIONS SPECIALIST is located in the Joint Force Headquarters-State, Operations Directorate (J-3), Army National Guard (ARNG) Training Center, Maneuver Training Center-Heavy/Power Support Platform (MTC-H/PSP) or Maneuver Training Center-Heavy (MTC-H) and is part of the CA Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base.

Duties

THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE TEMPORARY POSITION NOT TO EXCEED 1 YEAR. Selectee may be non-competitively extended up to 4 years if/when funding becomes available. The primary purpose of the COMMUNITY RELATIONS SPECIALIST, GS-0301-9, is to manage the local community relations program for the training center. This includes emphasis on maintaining effective working relationships with the community; and planning and organizing special events. The incumbent is responsible for collecting, assembling, preparing, and disseminating information concerning the various training center programs and activities to the community.

Qualifications

COMMUNITY RELATIONS SPECIALIST, GS-0301-9: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-08 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: Experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration; Experience compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information; Experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled; Experience using computer and automation systems. Education
