Duties

You will issue and maintain weapons and personal protective equipment to security and law enforcement personnel. You will ensure all weapons and ammunition are accounted for and required inventories executed within specified period. You will schedule and execute Planned Maintenance System (PMS) weapon maintenance using automated scheduling software or local scheduling techniques. You will ensure all required standard operating procedures and applicable instructions for the armory remain current. You will be responsible for the armory, armory security, and armory equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • The employee is required to wear safety clothing and equipment, appropriate for the job and work area.
  • Must be able to read, legibly write, and speak English.

Qualifications

I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. THE ABILITY TO DO THE DUTIES OF A SMALL ARMS REPAIRER WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION as demonstrated by the following: 1) Disassembling, repairing, and rebuilding small arms such as rifles, pistols and shot guns; 2) Performing operational checks and adjustments on completed weapons; 3) Performing inventories of weapons, ammunition, or equipment to control supply. **NOTE: This experience must be fully and clearly supported in your resume. Physical Effort: The work requires physical exertion on a regular and recurring basis, sitting, long periods of standing, walking, standing, stooping, reaching, power tool operation, lifting moderately heavy items up to 60 pounds, operating hand trucks/dollies to move heavy items, and occasional climbing. Working Conditions: The work involves moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions. Work is normally done in secure armory space with no windows. Occasionally, site of work may be indoor or outdoor firing range(s). Employee is subject to loud noises while using various tools and machinery in the repair and maintenance of the small arms. Exposed to grease, oil and solvents when cleaning and lubricating weapons. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises from tools or sharp edges of metal. Work may also involve exposure to industrial vehicles and moving machinery. Uses safety equipment such as protective ear devices, hard hats, and hard toe shoes.
