This AIRCRAFT MECHANIC position, is located in an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF)or Army Aviation Flight Activity (AAFA) and is part of the CA AASF Stockton.
Duties
THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION.
The primary purpose of the AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-11, is to be responsible for the performance of the full range of aircraft maintenance duties including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of assemblies, systems, and surfaces for one or more types of military aircraft, fixed and rotary wing. Perform duties and has responsibilities understood under the military designation of Crew Chief which involves full maintenance responsibility for a required minimum number of aircraft as determined by type of aircraft. Has responsibility for one or more subordinate employees who assist in the repair and maintenance of assigned aircraft. May be required to perform duties per the military definition of Flight Engineer.
Qualifications
General Experience: Possess experience or training that has provided the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications; Skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-11: Must have at least 18 months experience installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification; Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow; Ability to instructing lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damages engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
