You will serve as a MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR I in the Facilities Management & Sustainment Product Line of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will determine manpower needs or material requirements based on projected maintenance work. You will recommend changes to schedules, priorities, and work sequences to accomplish maintenance work. You will complete scheduled maintenance work within established timeframes and guidelines. You will assign maintenance work to employees and instruct on work requirements, methods, and procedures. You will interpret drawings and plans for fabrication, installation, repair, and modification work related to maintenance and operations trades.

Requirements

  • May be required to serve on-call duty. When on-call, is required to carry a duty cell phone and/or duty pager and must remain available to respond on site to after-hour emergencies within two hours.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Provides full supervision to the assigned support staff. Assigns the work based on these priorities, with consideration for the difficulty and requirements of the assignments and employee capabilities. Establishes performance ratings of subordinates. Plans work schedules and sequence of operations for the work force supervised. Assigns work to subordinates either orally or by providing written instructions. Advises the crew to follow instructions and plans to meet deadlines. Inspects work in progress to review work processes and assess productivity. Performs quality assurances inspections of completed work. Assures adequate quality control measures and indicators are in place to ensure smooth job scheduling, accurate estimating, high levels of productivity and quality workmanship. Recommends new methods, material or equipment available for expediting and improving work execution. Attends meetings concerning requirements, specifications and technical matters relating to assigned work.
