The selectee of this position serves as a IT Specialist (Network Services) responsible for analyzing, installing, configuring, testing, conducting quality assurance reviews, and implementing network systems used for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats. This position is in direct support of the HQ Operations Division. This position is located in the Information Technology Division / Arlington, Virginia.

Duties

As a IT Specialist (Network Services) at the GS-2210-13 grade level, some of your typical work assignments may include, but are not limited to, the following: Analyze, install, configure, test, and conduct quality assurance reviews. Monitor network capacity and performance and workload. Implement network systems used for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats. Ensure rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of network services. Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret - Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance.
  • This is a Testing Designated Positions (TDP) and is subject to random drug testing.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial/probationary period.
  • Status Candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade level).
  • Applicants must meet all qualifications requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Travel both domestically and internationally as required.
  • Possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting, hauling, climbing, work in closely confined spaces and other strenuous physical activities in all types of environmental conditions.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be on call 24 hours a day, seven days per week.

Qualifications

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit Promotion and Veterans Employment Opportunity Act (VEOA) Status applicants must provide an SF50 Notice of Personnel Action that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF50 must include the position, title, series, grade, step, tenure, type of service (Competitive or Excepted) and career status (career or career-conditional). No award SF50 will be accepted as proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. One year at the GS-12 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 grade level. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the education and/or experience required for the grade level(s) to which you apply. To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must meet the following: IT-Related Experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. You must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing the following duties: Analyzing current network requirements, architecture, and infrastructures to make recommendations to senior management; Managing all installations, testing, and upgrading regarding components consistent with network architecture; Configuring and optimizing network servers, hubs, routers, firewalls and/or switches to ensure efficient performance and security; Assisting with developing network backups and recovery procedures for an organization; and Monitoring network capacity, performance, and workload to identify and resolve network problems.
