THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SUPPLY TECHNICIAN (TITLE 5), T5279000 and is part of the OR JFHQ, National Guard.

Duties

As a SUPPLY TECHNICIAN (TITLE 5), GS-2005-7, this position is located in the Army Guard (Museum). Its purpose is to provide storage and distribution, cataloging or identification systems, property utilization, or other related activities including those associated with automated or manual accounting systems. 1. Performs routine and non-routine material coordination duties for special programs (museum). 2. Responsible for local management of items. Plans requirements to satisfy customer needs. 3. Responsible for limited aspects of storage management. May develop and install local procedures and techniques to achieve and maintain smooth, effective, and coordinated storage operations. 4. Performs other duties as assigned such as: Assists in ensuring the security of the Museum, its contents, personnel, and the public. Utilizes written and oral communication to answer questions from the general public (electronic and phone). Completes regular preventive maintenance, as well as regularly monitors, records, and reports environmental conditions and integrated pest management (IPM). Provides assistance to patrons, the general public, and interagency staff while ensuring the highest standards of customer care. Aids Curatorial staff in handling, researching, cataloguing, processing, inventorying, and housing of historic and library collections in compliance with US Army Museum regulations and standards in best museum practices, to include coordination of outgoing loans. Participates in the research, planning, and installation of exhibits. Assists in building management and office needs through careful administration of facility help tickets, environmental compliance, inventory, and general building operations and organization. Represents the Museum at professional conferences, workshops, and other offsite events. Act as a supporting member of the museum team by contributing to the operation of the museum, including completing additional duties as assigned by the Museum Director.   • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain the necessary security clearance for the position, must have at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • Work schedule: Five eight-hour days per week; 8:30am to 5:00pm. Current schedule is Tues-Sat through November, then will transition to Mon-Fri. Upon reopening of the Historic Park/Museum, the position will transition back to Tues-Sat.
  • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in prep for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days /yr unless otherwise approved by the TAG.
  • Selectee may convert to indefinite status without further competition.

Qualifications

AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All on board permanent and indefinite T5 federal employees within the Oregon National Guard Area 2: All on board permanent and indefinite T32 federal technicians within the Oregon National Guard Area 3: All current non-permanent technicians/employees (T5 and T32) of the Oregon National Guard Area 4: All current and former members of the Oregon National Guard (former members must provide documentation showing membership in the Oregon National Guard such as an NGB 22 or DD214) Area 5: U.S. citizens SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: One year experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. QUALITY RANKING FACTOR #1: Applicants who have professional museum experience will be considered higher level qualified. QUALITY RANKING FACTOR #2: Applicants who have experience with collections management software will be considered higher level qualified. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. 2. Demonstrated ability to positively interact with people from a range of age groups, backgrounds, and demographics, and the ability to provide excellent customer service. 3. Are timely, dependable, friendly, energetic, and flexible. 4. Comfortable working and speaking with the public. The ability to speak to large groups a plus. 5. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. 6. Strong verbal and written communication skills. 7. Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. 8. Experience in customer service, hospitality, classroom environments, administration, social media and/or website management a plus. 9. A love of history and/or museums, and a drive to learn. 10. Physical demands: Able to sit and stand for long periods of time, walk up and down ladders and stairs, reach overhead, move and carry 30 pounds, grip, and twist, squat, and bend.
