About the Position:This position is located with the Directorate of Human Resources (DHR) at Fort Stewart, GA.
Duties
Responsible for performing clerical or technical work supporting personnel screening in the areas of fingerprinting, submission of initial investigation data/requests.
Examines information in records, documents, and database systems to insure completeness, eligibility, and conformity with applicable regulations and guidance.
Prepares replies to correspondence of a routine, standardized and technical nature. Communicates orally and in writing with a variety of military and civilian personnel to obtain or provide required information. Maintains standard files.
Perform duties and oversee military personnel programs such as soldier in-processing and/or out-processing, soldier actions, casualty operations, records management, assignments/reassignments, personnel manning and retirement/transition processing.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain a Secret Clearance (Tier 3).
- Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) of 5% may be required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in one or more of the following: preparing a variety of personnel actions that include forms and documentation associated with the maintenance of records, entitlements, pay, and other associated actions; support one or more personnel programs, operations, or functions in the management and execution of personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
This position may be filled as either a temporary promotion or a temporary reassignment not to exceed 3 Years for current Army employees. Temporary promotions, temporary reassignments, or temporary change to lower grade may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years, and may be made permanent without further competition.
This position is a TERM position. It is a time limited position NTE 3 years and may be extended up to a maximum of 8 years. This position may be converted to a permanent, career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.
