You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY in the Clinical Operation, Primary Care and Mental Health, Operations Plans and Readiness of BUREAU OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY.

Duties

You will collaborate with the Director of Mental Health to direct, manage, and provide clinical, financial and policy oversight of BUMED Mental Health programs. You will provide guidance in taskings for multidisciplinary support personnel in mental health. You will provide contract oversight - including Contract Officer Representative (COR) or COR technical assistant, or assignment of a designee for any assigned BUMED contract requirements. You will serve as team leader of groups formed to address mental health related issues, and delegates work to team members. You will perform policy development and assurance of policy implementation across the Navy Medicine Enterprise.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience providing and management of day-to-day Mental Health program operations at the DoD and BUMED level. Experience developing new programs and defining mental health needs of USN/USMC through needs assessments, baseline program evaluation, and other research. Experience functioning independently as a SME in mental health care issues in large scale health service delivery systems. Experience providing effective responses to high-level (i.e., Congress, Secretary of Defense, Chief of Naval Operations, Assistant Secretary of Health, Surgeon General, etc.) inquiries and taskers, delegating and coordinating to staff as appropriate Experience consulting with other DoD Services (i.e., Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps Office of Secretary of Defense) and non-DoD Agencies on mental health programming. For Psychology Series, 0180 Individual Occupational Requirements are: Degree: major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations except clinical psychology and counseling psychology. These two specializations have additional educational requirements, as stated below:
  • Clinical psychology: For positions at grades GS-11 and above, satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.
  • Counseling psychology: For positions at grades GS-9 and above, satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology is required.
For Social Work Series, 0185 Individual Occupational Requirements: Degree: Social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

Master's degree with practicum: Applicants who complete all of the requirements for a master's degree in social work that included a practicum are eligible for GS-9.
