This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Responsible for overseeing multiple, related information technology (IT) projects as a focused GFM program in support of the Global Force Management (GFM) community, aligning those IT projects to realize DoD-wide organizational benefits not available if managed separately. The position leads and directs project teams supporting operational mission support as well as new and ongoing GFM initiatives.

Duties

As a SUPV INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SPEC at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Providing IT project management oversight and guidance within the Directorate as the Program Manager. Ensuring qualified senior/lead project managers overseeing the analysis, evaluation, development, and implementation of computer-based systems used for managing the directorate's requirements are meeting their project goals and are following established processes. Performing investment analyses, capital investment planning and budgeting for all IT infrastructure acquisitions in the directorate. Developing and recommending directorate business cases developed for any infrastructure system enhancements or new systems development. Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting and adjusting short-term priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work

  • This is a drug testing position.
  • Designated Mission-Essential (M-E) for peacetime operations. In the event of a national emergency or mobilization, this position cannot be vacated, which requires the position, or designated alternate, to be screened from military recall status

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Ensuring qualified senior/lead project and functional managers overseeing the analysis, evaluation, requirements collection, development, and implementation of computer-based systems used for managing a directorate's requirements are meeting their project goals and are following established processes; Providing oversight to a Division's contract specialists to include the development and implementation of support contracts for a Directorate's IT mission and non-mission support software; Recommending, developing and formally codifying directorate business cases developed for any infrastructure system enhancements or new systems development Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
