This position is a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist located at the White Earth Health Center with duty station located at the Naytahwaush Health Center, Naytahwaush, Minnesota. This position reports to the Facilities Manager or Designee.
This is an Open Until Filled Announcement and applications will be referred when vacancies occur.
Duties
Management of accessory systems such as systems for radiology, tele-medicine, tele-radiology and other assorted medical electronic data transmission devices used in diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Independently formulates methods and techniques to perform scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance to assure operational safety of patient related devices.
Manages the calibration, repairs, and preventive maintenance on complex medical and dental x-ray systems, diagnostic laboratory analyzers, and other patient related systems.
Serves as a technical advisor and consultant to administrators, physicians, and other health care professionals in the purchase of new instrumentation.
Writes instructional materials and conducts training in the techniques and methods of testing, calibrating and operating patient care systems for appropriate personnel.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-05: 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree OR 3 years of general experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least GS-4 Grade Level.
GS-07: 1 full year of graduate level education OR superior academic achievement OR 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 Grade Level.
GS-09: Master's degree OR equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 Grade Level.
GS-11: Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or LL.M., if related; OR 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 Grade Level.
General Experience Defined
GS-05: 1. Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; 2. Plan and organize work; and 3. Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Specialized Experience Defined
GS-07: Test, repair, maintenance and documentation of sophisticated medical equipment (i.e., EKGs, Vital Signs Monitors, Dental chairs etc.), to ensure clean, safe, and proper function; engineering methods and practices involving mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, digital, optical; and radiological principals.
GS-09: Installing, testing, repairing, maintaining, and documentation of a variety of medical and dental equipment used for patient diagnoses and treatment; application of mechanical, electrical, and electronic principles and circuitry; troubleshoot malfunctions, and to document and communicate results to Healthcare Technology management personnel; Equipment used at this level are electronically sophisticated such a defibrillators and CAT scanners.
GS-11: Repair, calibration and preventive maintenance of sophisticated medical and dental equipment; experience in selection, installation, modification, testing, and evaluation of medical and dental equipment; providing documentation, consultative and instruction services to medical and dental staff, and administrative personnel; experience with Healthcare Technology Management equipment statutory regulations, maintaining compliance and accreditation.
