The incumbent serves as a Program Assistant assigned to the Medicine Service at the Richard L. Roudebush Veterans Affairs Medical Center (RLR VAMC) located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The RLR VAMC is a large, complex, and academically affiliated tertiary care Medical Center with over 3000 employees, involving a wide spectrum of professional, technical, and administrative occupations.
Duties
Duties may include but not limited to:
Program Development, Support, and Training:
The incumbent assists the service leadership in the planning, designing, implementing, modifying, and assessing the effectiveness of programs and services to continuously improve the performance, processes, and applications of patient care.
The incumbent will ensure all computer access is granted and maintained while providing support with technical issues. The incumbent will ensure all resident and student view alerts and monitored and addressed in a timely manner.
The incumbent will review, update, and maintain the on-call schedule daily. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating with section chiefs and the academic affiliate to make daily on-call updates as needed.
Data Management:
The incumbent performs work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information in support of the organization's program operation. Prepares, executes, and /or tracks program specific information, as required. Prepares charts, graphs, and narrative information, as required.
Prepares correspondence for the signature of Medicine Service leadership and maintains records and files as necessary. The incumbent prepares documents for distribution and/ or signature on service level policies, procedures, and Medical Center Memorandums, as assigned.
The incumbent will service as the Resident Timekeeper in collaboration with Education Service and all OAA rules and regulations. Will manage all monthly time keeping
Facilities Liaison/ADPAC/Program Administrator:
The incumbent coordinates and requests new employee and learners' access and other onboarding needs such as PIV card, keys, computer access, etc.
The incumbent will be a backup timekeeper for all Medicine Service T&L. The incumbent will ensure time is posted in compliance with VA timekeeping policies and procedure.
The incumbent will be the liaison between education service, the academic affiliate, and Medicine Service to ensure Resident Timekeeping is conducted accurately and timely within the OAA regulations. This includes in-clinic spot checks of Residents during their tours of duty.
Qualifications

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experiences described below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but not limited to: Ability to effectively analyze problems, and present both written and oral communications, to a wide variety of individuals from numerous disciplines and services, both internal and external to the Medical Center. Knowledge of analysis and evaluation in relation to standardized administrative practices and procedures to conduct studies of administrative work processes in various sections, services, and academic partnerships/affiliations within the Medical Center. Knowledge of administrative regulations and operating procedures with the ability to investigate and identify compliance of regulations and operating procedures related to Resident Timekeeping.

Physical Requirements: Includes walking, standing, bending, typing, computer processing, filing, receiving and delivering mail and answering telephones, carrying of light items such as medical records and occasionally assisting with a wheelchair. This position demands emotional stability as in some instances, relationships with patients can become intense and the employee is often placed in a position of stress. The work environment involves the normal risks typical of an office with the additional risk of dealing with patients who may be hostile and/or are not in contact with reality. May encounter medically emergent patients and those with infectious diseases.
