You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist in the MRO F/A-18 Compliance and Quality Department, Quality Control Inspection Division of FLEET READINESS CENTER WEST located at Naval Air Station Lemoore, CA

Duties

You will participate in engineering and quality investigations of equipment/systems to ensure quality assurance standards are met. You will interpret and apply product specifications and other technical data to make necessary revisions to quality checklists. You will report adverse trends and deviations from normal manufacturing performance and/or product conformance and quality. You will read and interpret contracts, blueprints, work orders, instructions, technical manuals, and other technical material to complete quality assurance inspections. You will maintain records/reports of deficiencies and prepare technical reports. You will be required to have regular and predictable attendance, which is an essential function of this position.

Qualifications

For the GS-11 Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying knowledge of quality assurance methods, principles, and practices and utilizing Department of Defense, Naval Aviation Maintenance Program, ISO standards, process guides, and local command instructions that govern the application of quality assurance methodology; 2) Updating information in the Continuous Process Improvement Management Tool, as required; 3) Determining corrective action needed for continuous improvement in cost, schedule, and quality standards; 4) Managing and facilitating change recommendations and requests for waivers relative to organizational, intermediate, and Fleet Readiness Center (FRC) depot level operations; 5) Conducting contract reviews of quality requirements during contract development; and 6) Identifying and administering quality assurance testing and evaluation requirements. For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying knowledge of quality assurance methods, principles, and practices and utilizing Department of Defense, Naval Aviation Maintenance Program, ISO standards, process guides, and local command instructions that govern the application of quality assurance methodology; 2) Assisting with determining corrective action needed for continuous improvement in cost, schedule, and quality standards; 3) Assisting with the facilitation of change recommendations and requests for waivers relative to organizational, intermediate, and Fleet Readiness Center (FRC) depot level operations; and 4) Identifying and administering quality assurance testing and evaluation requirements. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For the GS-11 Level:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
Possession of LL.M. that is related to this position being filled
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

For the GS-09 Level:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR
Possession of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to this position being filled.
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
