The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for an Maintenance and Operations Supervisor. The Maintenance and Operations Supervisor will function in Facilities Management Service.

Duties

The duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor include, but are not limited to: Planning, direction, control, coordination, operation, and evaluation of the Maintenance & Operation program and its personnel. Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of building service equipment, utility distribution systems, and maintenance of other facility systems and infrastructure. Implementation of a preventative maintenance (PM) program. Conduct inspections to assure quality control of work performed by Engineering staff. Analyze the physical plant utilities and subsystems for proper maintenance and visually assesses conditions of maintenance/repair activities. Monitor progress and trends on in-house projects, work orders, and preventive maintenance. Analyze work schedules to determines manpower, tooling, material requirements, and methods to be used. Estimate materials for repair, minor improvement, maintenance, and station labor projects in order to provide management with cost figures and estimates. Set preventative maintenance procedures and schedules preventive maintenance of building and utility equipment to prevent breakdown and extend equipment life. Serve as Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for service, maintenance, and repair contracts. Plan overall work schedules and sequence of operations on a weekly, project, or longer basis to assure an even flow and distribution of work. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Physical Requirements: This position requires walking, standing, bending, sitting, crawling and climbing. Incumbent must have good vision, with or without glasses. May lift or carry tools, equipment, ladders, scaffolding, parts and supplies up to 50 pounds. May occasionally lift and carry items over 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Incumbent may work from ladders, scaffolding, and/or hydraulic platforms. This position requires working in uncontrolled environments, in inclement weather conditions, and in confined or uncomfortable spaces. Many work sites are hot, dirty, dusty, greasy, poorly lit, cramped and with unpleasant odors. Occasionally is subject to possible dangerous working conditions including exposure to hazards normally encountered in the hospital trades and various types of infections. May be subject to electrical shock and/or electrical bums, cuts, bruises, and strains. Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary to accomplish assigned tasks in a safe manner.
