Duties

Works under general supervision of the Golf Course Operations/Tournament Manager, specific instructions are provided on new or unusual assignments. Work is periodically checked to verify progress in terms of results of repaired equipment. Troubleshoots and repairs electric machinery/golf cart fleet and other assigned equipment. Repairs and/or replaces control boxes, relays, transmissions, braking systems, wiring circuits, check battery cables and water levels. Cleans, inspects, replaces and/or repairs commutators, field coils, bearings, bushings, grease retainers, brush holders, brushes, cams, wire leads and housings. Maintains, repairs diesel powered Golf ball Picker equipment, electric powered Golf Ball Dispenser machine. Repairs, replace body parts, tires, electrical systems, brakes, batteries, light engine repairs replacing pistons, shafts, coils, oil lines. Performs preventive maintenance, establishes schedules for routine maintenance. Keeps record of preventative, routine maintenance, repair work accomplished. Establishes, maintains parts accountability records for regularly required repairs. Knowledge to assembly, disassembly, operation and installation of all parts and components of both electric and diesel driven specialized golf course equipment. Must be able to read and interpret a variety of manufacturer’s manuals and part listings.

Requirements

  • Works outdoors and indoors and is exposed to grease, dirt, dust and battery acid. Exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, strains, and electric shocks from use of tools and equipment.
  • Work assignments involve bench work, standing, sitting and sometimes bending and occasional work in cramped and awkward positions while working on equipment.
  • Work performed frequently requires the lifting of items weighing from 10 to 40 pounds and occasionally objects weighing in excess of 40 pounds with assistance or with mechanical devices. Selected applicant must pass a Medical Physical Examination.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Incumbent must have previous skill and knowledge in the repair and maintenance of both electric and diesel driven equipment. 2. Must have experience in the use of a variety of basic tools and equipment both standard and metric such as standard acetylene welding equipment, bench lathe, electric buffers and grinders, armature tester, electric motor tester, field coil tester, diagnostic test equipment, and other hand tools common to the trade for repairs. 3. Ability to read and interpret manufacturers' repair manuals, technical orders and specifications, schematics, engineering drawings, diagnostic codes, computer printouts, environmental and safety manuals, etc. 4. Ability to work independently with little to no supervision. HIGHLY PREFERRED: 1. Must possess professional work experience performing repairs and maintenance to a fleet sized inventory of battery powered golf carts. 2. Must possess experience in performing troubleshooting operations to control modules and GPS systems using diagnostic equipment for various brands of carts E-Z Go, Club Car, Yamaha or similar brands of carts. 3. Must possess experience in determining problems and making corrective repairs to golf cart brakes, suspensions, steering, and electric motors. 4. Must be able to read and decipher electrical schematics and make professional level repairs for splices, connectors and terminals. 5. Must have own set of basic tools to conduct all work required to make necessary repairs to golf carts.
