About the position: This position will be assigned to the Auto Hobby Shop . The function of the organization where this position is located is in official functional statements. The primary purpose of this position is to manage and oversee the activities of the Auto Hobby Shop and provide advise and assistance to customers on mechanical repair they are performing.

Duties

Plans the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools needed to accomplish the work. Accountable to management for the quantity and quality of work performed and for ensuring efficient and economical operations. Plans, schedules, and coordinates work operations while adhering to work priorities, project schedules, resources, and work plan. Analyze financial results, and maintains solid financial condition of the facility. Manages real property resources and provides expert advice on renovations, improvements, minor and major construction. Assigns, directs, and reviews the work of subordinates. Observes work in progress, resolving problems and making adjustments as necessary to meet schedules. Inspects completed work for quantity and quality of work performed. Explains and gains the support of subordinates for management policy, programs, and goals. Hires, promotes, motivates, disciplines, and separates subordinates. Approves/disapproves leave schedules and/or other absences from work. Supports the objective of AF-wide programs and policies such as labor-management relations and equal employment opportunity. Advises and counsel subordinates on improving performance. Investigates grievances and complaints and ensures safety and maintenance practices are observed. May perform automotive mechanic duties. Position of Trust. Successful completion of National Agency Check (NAC) is required. Performs other related duties and assigned. CONTROLS OVER WORK: Supervisor makes overall assignments and is available for administrative advice and guidance. Performs mechanical and associated duties without technical supervision. Follows established guidelines and technical manuals in performance of work. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: 1. Skill and Knowledge: Knowledge of equipment common to the trade, knowledge of technical practices in performing repair work. Knowledge of safety regulations, procedures and policies to include environmental directives pertaining to handling hazardous materials, Skill in the use of hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments and test equipment. Skill in troubleshooting defects, diagnosing malfunctions, and determining the kind and extent of maintenance and or repairs needed. Ability to interpret and explain manufacturers' repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics, engineering drawings, diagnostic codes, computer printouts and safety manuals. Ability to inspire, motivate and guide others toward goal accomplishment. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Must be customer oriented with a pleasant, friendly attitude. 2. Physical Effort: Requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, crawling under vehicles and working in tight spaces. Occasionally lifts, handles, and carries parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds while assisting patrons. 3. Working Conditions: Work is usually performed inside on concrete surfaces where there is exposure to drafts, noise, and fumes from vehicles. Occasionally performs work outside under adverse weather conditions. Continually exposed to dirt, dust, grease, and to the potential for bums, chemical irritations, shocks, bruises, cuts, and strains. Required to use safety equipment such as safety shoes and glasses and/or respirators. Qualifying Experience: Experience in the maintenance and repair of diesel and gasoline powered engines which includes the full range of repairing, disassembling, trouble shooting, and overhauling of these engines, and provided all of the following: Knowledge of the makeup, operation, and installation of complex major systems and assemblies to trouble shoot and repair a variety of systems or to rebuild one or more systems; knowledge of test and trouble shoot components and systems to located equipment defect; ability to interpret and apply manufacturer's repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics and engineering drawings, diagnostic codes, computer printouts, and safety manuals; and the ability to operate electronic test equipment. Must be able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally objects weighing over 50 pounds. Must have supervisory experience. Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical is required. Satisfactory complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
