Position is located at the Roudebush VA Medical Center, Department of Veterans Affairs comprised of a diverse and complex 1a, multi-mission, tertiary care facility in VISN 10 servicing two main campuses and 11 geographically separated locations around central Indiana.

Duties

Duties of the position include but are not limited to: Responsible for generating reports and presenting the information generated to upper management. Responsible for establishing tours of duty and work assignments for subordinates. Ensures that delivery of linen carts/baskets are accomplished through the Medical Center according to established procedures. Responsible for linen collection, servicing, and distribution throughout the medical center Identifies and recommends corrective actions in the problem areas to the Assistant Hospital Housekeeping Officer

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/16/2023. In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements within 7 calendar days of the closing date listed on the announcement: EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the Job Elements: Dexterity and Safety Interpret Instructions, Specifications (other than blueprint reading) Materials Operation of Equipment/Machinery Technical Practices Work Practices Certifications: Incumbent will be required to attend and successfully complete the Laundry and Linen College. May be required to seek the Registered Laundry and Linen Director (RLLD) certificate as this will allow him/her to serve as a section Contracting Officer Representative. Customer Service: Meets the needs of all customers, both internal and external, in support of VA mission. Consistently communicates and treats customers (prospective and current employees, veterans, their representatives, and visitors) in a courteous, tactful; and respectful manner. Provides customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately G.E.M.S.: Familiarize with impacts of their service/section activities on the goals of VA Green Environmental Management System (GEMS) program to implement sound stewardship practices for protection of environment. Complete environmental aspects and impact analysis for their activities in collaboration with GEMS Coordinator and effectively implement all applicable operational strategies, which are developed through the GEMS to ensure regulatory compliance. Implement green procurement policy to consider environmentally preferable and recycled products in all purchasing decisions. Safety: Follows established practices and reports to the supervisor as promptly as possible unsafe conditions, unsafe practices or any occupational illness or injury sustained. Adheres to all safety and health standards, regulations, work practices, and uses proper protective equipment as required. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
