These temporary NTE 1039 hours in a year positions are located at Sainte Genevieve National Historical Park. Duties

Provide direction to, information on, and orientation regarding services or activities of interest to the public. Serve as a front-line representative to greet customers and answer questions. Educate customers regarding rules, regulations, and safety concerns to gain compliance. Present informational talks, guided tours, and demonstrations, following a prescribed outline, to various audiences to inform or educate. Responds verbally to visitors inquiries for information, direction, and guidance. Explain the significance of an area's natural, cultural, historic, or other resources. Assist the public in planning visits and recommending activities in the area. Respond to mail, email, and telephone information requests. Physical Demands: The work requires standing for long periods of time, walking long distances, climbing, and descending steep inclines, bending and lifting moderately heavy items. Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to high volume of personal contacts, occasional emergency responses, and repetitive nature of interpretative programs. Working Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors resulting in exposure to a variety of weather conditions. AREA INFORMATION: Ste. Genevieve is a city in Ste. Genevieve Township and is the county seat of Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri, United States, located along the west bank of the Mississippi River near the Illinois state line along Interstate 55, U.S. Route 61, and Missouri Route 32, approximately 46 mi (74 km) south-southeast of St. Louis and 196 mi (315 km) north-northwest of Memphis, Tennessee. The population was 4,410 at the 2010 census. Founded in 1735 by French Canadian colonists and settlers from east of the river, it was the first organized European settlement west of the Mississippi River in present-day Missouri. Public education in Ste. Genevieve is administered by Ste. Genevieve R-II School District.[16] Ste. Genevieve also has a public library, the Ste. Genevieve Branch Library.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-10/09/2023-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-4 grade level, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: You must possess six months of general experience AND six months of specialized experience to be considered minimally qualifying. General experience is: 1) any type of work that demonstrates your ability to perform the work of the position, or 2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. Examples of general experience include office work, teaching assistant, visitor center work, etc. Specialized experience is that which provided you with the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the work of this position and is usually in or related to the work of this position. Examples of specialized experience includes work that involved oral presentation of historical, scientific, or program information to groups or developing and/or revising technical, historical, or scientific information for oral presentation to groups such as teaching, presenting environmental education programs, museum docent, etc. You must include hours per week worked on your resume. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least two years of education beyond high school (60 semester hours) which included at least 12 semester hours that were successfully completed in courses such as American history, science, and/or public speaking. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
