About the Position: Serve as a Human Resources Assistant in a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). Provides administrative Support to the Reception-Administration Control Desk (RACD), Record Maintenance & Accountability, and Enlistment Processing to include fingerprinting of applicants.

Duties

Transmit fingerprints electronically to the investigating agency (OPM/FBI). Gather information, which would bear on moral or physical suitability for enlistment. Refer applicants with additional disclosed information to the appropriate enlistment, recruiting, or processing authority. Verify applicants Emergency Data Records, and any discrepancies when differences occur.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position may require the employee to work an occasional Saturday and/or shift work (work before 6:00 a.m. or after 6:00 p.m.).
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.

A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience utilizing automated systems and equipment, reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness, maintaining personnel records, and data entry. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
