You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC in the PORTHSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD of NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY PORTSMOUTH NSY.
Duties
You will disassemble and make onsite repairs to marine equipment and machinery.
You will install, replace, and adjust various regulating or safety devices such as meter, gauges, automatic alarms.
You will perform operational and functional tests and make the required adjustment in order to ensure proper operation of the system.
You will determine the nature and extent of repairs and make needed repairs.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to perform the duties of a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC under normal supervision: 1) Applying knowledge of diesel engineering theory, electricity, pipe fitting, plumbing, maintenance and operation to install, maintain, and repair marine machinery and equipment; 2) Interpreting and applying the requirements contained in technical manuals, shop directives, multi view blueprints and other documents to determine critical dimensions and key reference points of marine machinery, equipment, and systems on work boats and tug boats; 3) Using test equipment and measuring devices such as levels, feeler gauges, dial indicators, micrometers, tachometers, and calipers to repair, adjust, and test shipboard equipment and machinery.
