About the Position: This position is under the supervision of the SOLDIER & CHEM/BIO R&S DIRECTORATE, WEAPONS PSID.
Duties
Serves as a maintenance support manager and technical advisor on systems to those who design, test, produce, operate, maintain, and store finished items.
Provides specialized information concerning support characteristics of complex systems/subsystems for use by engineering.
Plans, schedules, and implements all elements of maintenance management on assigned systems.
Provides technical information to publication personnel for compilation and publication of repair parts lists, technical bulletins, supply bulletins, lubrication orders, and technical manuals.
Provides on-site technical assistance and training in the operation and maintenance of materiel to units in CONUS, overseas Commands and international countries.
Recommends changes, based on intensive, practical knowledge of equipment, to simplify design and improve serviceability.
Reviews final industrial drawing; visits manufacturing sites during production and attends and participates in the various troop tests.
Requirements
- This position requires temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires you to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.

To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which includes: Reviewing design features for maintenance support and dependability; Investigating causes of deficiencies and malfunctions from supported equipment and providing advice to operators, maintainers, designers, and technical writers on resolving the issues; Identifying resources necessary to resolve various types of maintenance issues and operational problems; Assisting off-site maintenance personnel with diagnostic troubleshooting procedures for equipment in remote locations:; Identifies tools or parts necessary to resolve operational problems and troubleshoots failures and malfunctions; Provides technical advice, assistance, and training to personnel assigned to the operation and maintenance of assigned equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
