About the Position: This position is located at the Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) Public Works Operations and Maintenance Division. The Public Works Directorate at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, leads the industry in providing exceptional infrastructure, resource, and facility management services. Duties

Use diagnostic techniques to identify, evaluate, and repair complex problems related to Heating Ventilation-Air Conditioning (HVAC) Energy Monitoring Control Systems (EMCS) building automation. Interrogate and adjust Heating Ventilation-Air Conditioning (HVAC) Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems to meet changing operating conditions. Perform adjustments, calibrations, repairs and replacement of HVAC related system controllers and sensors to facilitate proper system operation. Provide resolution service by engaging with technicians and customers to quickly evaluate, resolve, and return failed HVAC systems to normal operating conditions. Interpret plans, drawings, control schematics, electrical ladder diagrams, and component wiring diagrams to troubleshoot and repair Direct Digital Control (DDC) Building Automation Systems (BAS).

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a EPA certification IAW 40 CFR 82.161. ). The EPA Certification must be uploaded during the application process.
  • Personnel Security (NACI) Investigation process required.
  • Position requires a Valid State issued motor vehicle Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more and complete and obtain physical requirements.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

Use proper lock out and tag out devices and procedures to control hazardous energy in order to safely perform maintenance and repair activities; trace electrical problems (e.g., grounded or short-circuited wiring, or locate defective components) to correct issues. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Position requires frequent climbing and work in high and/or confined places. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, often in inclement weather. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, scrapes, broken bones and serious burns caused by electrical shock, RF energy and hot components.
