Duties

You will serve as an In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA), Configuration Manager and a Communications Equipment subject matter expert responsible for computer and telecommunications services. You will plan, schedule, acquisition, install, integrate, modify and test communication systems and equipment. You will develop comprehensive installation design plans, system analysis, safety, test support, specifications and standards, performance and maintenance data analysis and maintenance engineering. You will provide guidance for interpreting and implementing the Department of Defense and Department of Navy policies, rules and regulations regarding long haul communication services and facilities.

  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 411 within 12 months of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station.

Qualifications

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: Experience performing two or more phases of the following: communications planning, scheduling, acquisition, installation, integration, modification and/or testing of Protected SATCOM communication equipment. Experience interpreting and analyzing design diagrams and schematics in the maintenance and troubleshooting of SATCOM and non-SATCOM communications equipment.-Experience evaluating and diagnosing faults in operational electronic communications equipment.-Experience using the Fleet Readiness Certification Board process. Experience using equipment such as Military Strategic Tactical Relay (MILSTAR), Family of Advanced Beyond Line of Site Terminal (FAB-T), Navy Multiband Terminal (NMT) or similar telecommunications systems. This position is within the Work Category TECHNICIAN AND ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT at Work Level SENIOR, Series and Grade GG-0856-11.
