The position is located in the Division of Nursing Services, Inpatient Department, at Gallup Indian Medical Center in Gallup, NM . This position functions as a member of the Nursing Executive Team to manage, plan, and organize nursing care to ensure compliance with polices, procedures, guidelines, and applicable standards.

Duties

NOTE: Applicants must apply separately for each announcement in order to be considered.** Is responsible to assure work planning, work direction, and work performance evaluation are accomplished. Perform nursing care duties, maintain nursing skills to cover staff shortages by performing patient assessment (triages, treatment and evaluation) on all ages of patients. Manage the clinical unit by providing adequate staffing, unit organizational functions, unit safety and communications are planned and information is disseminated to the staff. Provides supervision to subordinate employees, including counseling, disciplinary action, corrective action, evaluation, and overall management of each unit employees Participates in the hiring process beginning with the announcement of the position, hiring and selection of employees for vacant positions. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing. A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education , Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Experience: The work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. At the GS-09 and above grade level, many positions may require experience in a specialty area of nursing. GS-12 (or equivalent) Grade Level In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Experience with implementation and oversight of quality nursing care, and the ability to perform the full spectrum of supervisory personnel management. Enforces all appropriate standards including but not limited to those of the Joint Commission, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) conditions of participation. Assurance that patient's needs are adequately met and nursing services are rendered in accordance with current standards for nursing practice. Collaborates with Chief Nurse Executive in the nursing documentation analysis, evaluation and program planning including development of staff education and skills competence activities.
