These career/career-conditional permanent full-time positions are located in Shenandoah National Park, in the Fee & Revenue Management Unit.

Duties

This position serves as a field supervisor in the Fee and Revenue Management Branch at Shenandoah National Park. Provides administrative and technical supervision to a minimum of four staff on a regular, recurring, and continuous basis. The primary purpose is to supervise the performance of clerical and technical work that is associated with the collection, deposit, tracking, and expenditure of fee revenue and donations collected from the public under legal authorities such as the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA). Duties may include: Supervision including hiring, training, reviewing, assigning duties, and disciplinary/counseling duties. Serve as a front-line uniformed representative of the NPS, answering visitor questions and explaining the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc. Assist with auditing fee collection program components/systems (e.g., cash registers, road/trail registers, honor systems, automated fee machines/AFMs, donation boxes, etc.); assist in completing audit paperwork and documenting findings; communicate audit results to supervisor. Manage Recreation One Stop for campgrounds. Duty stations for these positions are located in Shenandoah National Park. One position will be duty stationed at Front Royal Entrance Station; covered by DCB Salary Table ($53,105 - $69,035). One position will be duty stationed at Rockfish Entrance Station; covered by RUS Salary Table ($46,696 - $60,703). Uniform: You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. Work Schedule: You will be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. WITHIN PARK TRAVEL: "Operational needs may require temporary assignment(s) to alternate duty locations with Shenandoah National Park. If the alternate location is within a 50 mile radius of your assigned duty station, you are responsible for your own transportation." POSITION LOCATION: Shenandoah National Park preserves and protects more than 300 square miles of nationally significant natural and cultural resources, scenic beauty, and congressionally designated wilderness within Virginia's northern Blue Ridge Mountains; and provides a broad range of opportunities for public enjoyment, recreation, inspiration, and stewardship. Within just 90 miles of Washington D.C. the Park provides visitors the ability to explore mountain peaks, hidden hollows, cascading streams, accessible wilderness, and stunning natural beauty. Approximately 40% of the Park is designated wilderness with over 500 miles of hiking trails and the iconic Skyline Drive, SHEN was established as an eastern Park that provided a "western Park experience". Due to the Park's easy accessibility to D.C and other highly populated areas along the east coast, visitation exceeds 1.4 million visitors annually which results in significant resource protection and visitor management issues and incidents.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-10/20/2023. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of qualifying experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: 1) Operating an electronic cash register; 2) Supervise and direct day to day operations of a fee collection operation: 3) Working knowledge of the National Reservation System; 4) Recruit, interview, and hire permanent and temporary staff. You must include hours per week worked. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
