About the Position: The Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers is comprised of motivated and talented employees providing the very best engineering services for communities in the Pacific Northwest. The District helps manage local water resources for navigation, flood damage reduction, disaster assistance, hydroelectric power generation, and other natural and heritage areas.
Duties
Provides clerical and administrative assistance to the District Commander and the Executive Office staff.
Maintain the appointment schedules and calendar for the District Commander.
Schedule interviews, meetings, and conferences considering space, time, and staff requirements.
Assist with maintaining the District master calendar and synchronize the Commander's and District master calendar with the Division master calendar.
Receive telephone calls and visitors for senior staff members.
Arrange for official travel by making reservations, assembling material, establishing itineraries, and preparing vouchers.
Prepare and review correspondence for signature in the Executive Office and provide correspondence guidance to less experience administrative staff.
Prepare and maintain budget for Executive Office.
Serve as a Government credit card holder to purchase goods and services.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires annual financial disclosure to avoid conflicts between duties and financial interest.
- This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-7 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) receiving visitors and telephone calls and determining the appropriate action; (2) preparing and reviewing correspondence for conformance with regulations, grammar, format, and special policies of the office; (3) electronically create travel orders and vouchers for others; (4) experience using a Government or business credit card, AND (5) budget preparation. (All five must be WELL documented in resume). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-5 or above).
GS-8 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) receiving visitors and telephone calls and determining the appropriate action; (2) preparing and reviewing correspondence for conformance with regulations, grammar, format, and special policies of the office; (3) electronically create travel orders and vouchers for others; (4) experience using a Government or business credit card; (5) budget preparation; AND (6) managing multiple calendars. (All six must be WELL documented in resume). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07 or above).
