Duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for performing administration work. Typical work assignments will include:
Providing leadership and management of staff and projects covering the broad range of areas of responsibility.
Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting goals and priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work.
Exercising a delegation of authority to contract for a variety of services, supplies and equipment.
Advising management on matters pertaining to procurement actions.
Forecasting the need for; estimating cost; writing justifications; designing office layouts and work areas, system furniture design and installation; and acquiring, modifying and utilizing office space.
Developing short- and long-range plans to ensure that administrative services are conducted effectively and efficiently.
Providing for the management of non-expendable property through maintenance of records.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.
- Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
- You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
Qualifications
To qualify as a GS-13, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
Specialized experience is defined as providing supervision to clerical, administrative, and contracting positions; ensuring the effectiveness of the Support Services Unit by developing and implementing local operating policies, procedures, and systems; developing short- and long- range plans to ensure that office operations are conducted effectively and efficiently; overseeing pre-award and post-award activities for the USAO for services, professional services, equipment, supplies, and furniture.
